Background

The United Earth Fighter is a light and agile combat vessel primarily used to  defend Earth from internal conflicts but has now been deployed against the Jovians. The standard model fighter can be seen in many battle on Earth where it was designed to intercept other light vessels in a conventional battle. It is most probably an atmospheric fighter, the large air intakes are most probably for turbine engines powered by a liquid fuel, meaning that it is not able to fight in Space. Its main cannon appears to be a conventional machine gun, and if the fighter is using a liquid fueled jet turbine it probably does not have the capacity to carry pulse lasers which would require far more energy than a machine gun.

The fighters weapons do not appear to be effective against the heavily shielded Jovian insects and the vessel probably can only provide a minor support role in the war A light, single seater , the UE Fighter can not defend its self or other vessels against the VTOL capable Jovian insects. It is unshielded and cannot stand direct fire from the semi guided rockets deployed by most of the light Jovian insects

Weapons

The fighter carries a heavy machine gun using conventional armour piercing or explosive ammunition. The cannon is not powerful enough to penetrate a Jovian Distortion Field without accurate and sustained fire, making it very hard for the fighter to be effective against the Jovians

During the invasion of Earth, the Fighter was not able to defend itself or other vessels against the Jovians, there is no suggestion that energy siphon technology for the fighter was part of the technology produced by Nergal during the closing stages of the war. Where the fighter to be equipped with a siphon engine it would be able to carry a defensive Distortion Field and laser weapons, enabling it to directly combat Jovian insects. It is probable that the United Earth replaced fighters in frontline areas with Aestavalis Robots.

Armour

United Earth Fighter carries metal armour and can stand moderate fire from most light conventional weapons carried by other fighters, but it does carry a shield generator and can not stand fire from a Graviton weapon. If the vessel was to carry a distortion field or pulse lasers it would be able to equal the Jovian insect in battle.
