Jovian Frigate

Background

The Frigate is the mainstay of the Jovian attack force and has taken part in every campaign, from First Battle of Mars to the invasion of Earth and final confrontation on the polar ranges. It is able to fight effectively in space and in the atmosphere and carries a standard armament of heavy Graviton Beams.

The Frigate can easily defeat the UE Frigate, it carries a defensive Distortion Field and heavier weapons that its Human adversary.

Unlike the United Earth Frigate which draws its power from a Nuclear Reactor, the Jovian Frigate maintains a Phase Transition power plant capable of powering both its weapon systems and shields.

The Jovian Frigate has been seen in battle on Earth and Mars, and was used during the Jovian invasion of the Moon in 2195 and in the defense of Mars against the Nadesico (Episode 6 - Sort of like a fateful decision) in 2195 where their shields where seen to be able to stand against moderate fire from heavy graviton weapons.

The Frigate carries a battery of heavy graviton weapons to attack enemy vessels.

The Frigate carries robot pilots and is entirely automated. It is not known if this vessel needs to have a command cruiser to control it or if it is advanced enough to fight without any assistance. It is probable that the Frigate is not only capable of operating without assistance, but that it also acts as a command cruiser for smaller, less advanced fighting units.

The United Earth Frigate is out matched and out gunned by the Jovians warship and can only stand against them in a battle if they are defended by heavier warships or ground positions.

Weapons

The Frigate carries a battery of heavy Graviton weapons as it main armament, it is probable but not certain that they also carry conventional guided missiles. 

While the Graviton beams deployed on the Jovian Frigate is significantly less powerful than the Nadesico's Graviton Blast cannon, it is capable of sustaining fire in an atmosphere.

It is not known if their main batteries use two power supplies but the Frigate is able to sustain fire from its Graviton batteries even when in an atmosphere (being in an atmosphere limits the power that a phase transition power plant can generate). Its cannons do not seam to be less effective when on Earth or Mars than when they are use in outer space.

Armour

Jovian Frigates use metal and ceramic amour and can stand moderate fire from most conventional weapons, its armor is probably far lighter than its United Earth counterpart because it is only a portion of its defensive technology.

The Frigate carries a defensive Distortion Field powered by its main phase transition plant, this shield has been seen to be able to withstand heavy fire from conventional pulse weapons and moderate fire from Graviton Weapons.
