Background

This is the Galley, it is where the Nadesico's crew can eat good home cooked food and relax when they are not at their roster position. The Nadesico has one of the best stocked galleys of an vessel, including luxury liners and floating hotels. The galley staff make a wide variety of international meals for the crew, who have been selected from many different areas of Earth and from the former colonies on Mars.

The galley is open throughout the day when it serves a wide variety of meals. The galley staff also  many ready cooked meals that can be eaten by the night roster when the galley is not manned, or is working on a short roster and only has serving staff. For those who do not want to eat in the galley, ready cooked and instant meals can be brought from the vending machines in engineering and in the corridors. Instant food includes the bachelors favorite (a meal for one) instant Ramen Noodles. The food packaging served from these machines is collected and made into many interesting food packages.

The galley is run by Miss Howmei, a military chef with the most impressive store cupboards to be found in any warship. She can produce meals from any culture and for any event. Miss Howmei also has recipes to provides funeral meals from every culture on board the Nadesico.

The galley is staffed by a dedicated team of young female cooks, Eri, Harumi, Sayuri, Junko and Mikako (and sometimes Akito), who brighten the lives of the young male crew with their cooking, but only in the canteen.

The Nadesico's officers are occasionally allowed to cook their own food in the galley when it is not being used by the crew, though only on special occasions. Some members of the crew have basic cooking facilities in their cabins, but most prefer to eat in the galley.
