Background

The Nadesico is commanded from the Bridge, where the Captain and bridge officers positions are. The other officers command from their own areas of the vessel, including engineering.

During combat all of the Nadesico's key systems are controlled from the bridge, weapons and navigation are controlled directly from the helm, and shields are controlled from the science station. During routine space flight most systems can be controlled form the computer and the helmsman is not required to be on the bridge.
