The Shakuyaku

Background

The Shakuyaku was the Nadesico's sister ship, a modified and upgraded version of the mobile battleship series. It was originally planned that the Shakuyaku would deliver the decisive blow against the Jovians force on Mars, but the Nadesico's retreat from Mars prevented the mission from going ahead as set out.

This warship was developed in a hidden base on the Moon and was kept away from the United Earth Force who would have commandeered it and used it in the campaign on Earth. However, before it could be launched a surprise attack by the Jovians on its hanger crushed the Shakuyaku, it is not known if the ship was totally destroyed, but it is most likely that it would not have been space worthy until after the war had finished.

The crew of the Shakuyaku was never introduced though it is likely that Erina Won or Nagare Akatsuki would have been its captain.

Weapons

The Shakuyaku was armed with the same Graviton Blast Cannon and missile armament as the Nadesico, though it is probably that its Graviton Blast Cannon had a faster recharge rate and a more efficient Graviton Blast than the Nadesico as it was far newer.

Armour

The Shakuyaku would have carried the same armour as the Nadesico, and would have been able to stand moderate fire from most conventional heavy weapons, and light fire from heavy Graviton Weapons.

Shields

It is probable that the Shakuyaku had slightly more efficient shields than the Nadesico, because it was so much newer, while it's total shield power was probably close to the Nadesico's shield levels, it is almost certain that its recharge rate would have been more efficient.

It is known that many of the internal systems were rewired after the initial design of the Nadesico, and that additional weapons intended for use with the Shakuyaku were not considered safe to use on the older warship.
