Episode Title: Ruri's navigation logs |

Episode 5
Date: September 2197
The Nadesico holds funerals for all of the crew who died on board and for
all of the colonists who died when the space colony was destroyed, as the
Captain Yurika oversees all of the funerals,
because there were people from many different cultures on board the space
colony, she must perform funerals from dozens of different countries, and
makes many costume changes, when she finishes with all of the regular
funerals she has to perform the custom funerals. A perk of working for
Nergal is a free funeral to your personal specifications. Megumi suggests
that, as Captain, Yurika will also be performing any weddings onboard the
Nadesico. This upsets Yurika who watched Akito kiss Megumi after returning
from the mission to retrieve the mission to retrieve an Aestavalis from the
destroyed space colony.
The Nadesico is fully automated and Yurika becomes bored waiting for them to
arrive at Mars (a two week journey), during this time she questions what it
means to be a Captain, and Ruri answers that based on the computer records,
Captains play almost no part actual part in winning or loosing wars, which
are now planned out by strategists and computer simulations, and have gone
from being old men with years of military experience, to being young
beautiful people who act as a figurehead, this does nothing to improve
Yurika's mood.
Yurika Meditates on her role as the Ships Captain and enters a Zen trans,
Jun takes command of the ship.
During the voyage the Nadesico is repeatedly fired on by Jovians probing
their defenses.
Akito, wondering why he must fight goes to the meditations room and finds
Yurika already there. Yurika leaves her Zen trans. After constantly thinking
about Akito she finds that he is right there and decides that it would be
the right time to pursue him, even though she knows that he is involved with
Megumi.
2 weeks after the Nadesico's escape from Earth.
The crew begin a mutiny and seize the ship, the officers take hostages and
the engineering crew go on strike, Jun is called down to the engineering
sections to mediate and discovers that the crew has found a clause in their
contracts with Nergal that prevents any intimate contact between
members of the crew.
Before the dispute can be resolved the ship shakes violently and warning
signals are activated, Ruri announces that the blast was not a Jovian probe
of the ships defenses, and that they were under full scale attack.
The ship launches its robots and enters combat with the Jovan sentries.
