Nadesico Episode 11

The Jovians send a new type of weapon to Earth and the Admiral sends the Nadesico on to destroy it. The weapon is given the name "Walking Stick", it hasbeen  deployed in Koursk through a using a Jovian Transport Chulip.

The Nadesico hides behind a mountain but as they begin climb above it to attack, the weapon fires through the top of the mountain and into their shields. The Nadesico is hit and their power generator is badly damaged, forcing them to retreat using their nuclear power plants.

The Admiral then tells the crew# that every other vessel sent to destroy the weapon was attacked through the mountains before they could fire or retreat.

 Inez tells the crew that the weapon fires miniature distortions (black-holes) like armour penetrating cannon shells, but that it must generate another distortion before it can fire, giving them time to repair the generator and escape.

Yurika decides that the weapon must be destroyed, but that an air attack is to risky, she decides to send the pilots to destroy the weapon using ground attack Aestavalis.

The engineers equip the pilots Aestavalis with with external batteries because they will be fighting beyond the mountains, and the ship's graviton power beam will not be able to feed their robots with energy. 

The pilots begin to bond as they journey across country to the weapon. Ryoko's feeling for Akito become more obvious, and Nagare's teasing turns into a male bonding ritual between him and Akito.

As the pilots bond, the Jovians attack using a brigade of vintage Russian tanks. The Jovians manage to destroy most of the spare batteries before the pilots can retreat, but they load the remaining batteries onto Akito and Nagare's Aestavalis so that they can continue with the mission.

The Ryoko, and the remaining pilots are attacked again but because their robots are out of power they cannot defend themselves, the pilots soon improvise, using magnetic detonators to destroy the remaining tanks. 

Nagare stays behind to defend Akito from a tank brigade, but Akito has used up too much of his ammunition already and as his power supply drains, he fires all of his weapons but is still not able to destroy the Walking Stick. As Akito's power supply becomes exhausted the weapon begins its firing sequence.

Just as the weapon is getting ready to fire Nagare arrives with the other pilots and a capptured Russian tank, Nagare and the pilots destroy the weapon seconds before it can fire.

After another bonding session, Akito becomes friends with Akatsuki. The engineers soon repair the ships power plant and they leave for their next mission.
