Background

Goto Horry is the Nadesico's Tactical Advisor and a veteran Security Officer with Nergal. 

A former military officer Goto Horry has experience in battle gained with the United Earth military, it is thought that he was not part take part  the UE force that was destroyed when the Jovian forces attacked Mars in October 2176.

During the Nadesico's escape from Earth (Episode 2 - Leave the blue Earth to me), Goto lead members of the crew in a counter attack against Admiral Munetake's forces when they captured the Nadesico, Mr. Horry became close to the helmsman Minato Haruka before the Nadesico was integrated into the United Earth command. This relationship did not last and they separated.
