Background

The Galley Staff are not main character but can often be seen during shots in the Nadesico's galley or as background characters in the corridors. They, dance, sing and flirt through many if the lighter moments of the series and are often seen preparing intricate meals for the crew. Most often called the Howmei girls, Eri, Harumi, Sayuri, Junko and Mikako (and sometimes Akito) are all attractive, young and single, and not interested in the male crew.

The Howmei girls prepare all of the food in the galley, including the popular Mars Bowl.

Akito was a cook when he joined the Nadesico, and joins the galley staff when he is not fighting.

During the Funeral service for those killed by the Jovians when the L2 colony was destroyed, the Howmei girl prepared a wide variety of international meals from many of Earth's cultures.

The galley staff provide most of food for the officers and the crew.
