Background
Hikaru is the Nadesico's most junior pilot and is one of the
youngest crew members, it is probable that only Ruri
Hoshino is younger but this has never been completely clarified.
Hikaru was born on Earth and was temporarily stationed on the Satsuki
Midori 2, or L2 colony before its destruction by the Jovians in 21 |

Hikaru's favorite foods are slightly soggy rice crackers and pizza crust
and she is an anime' fan. Hikaru also writes shounen ai books (smutty/erotic
novels popular with female readers) , though none have been published yet.
Hikaru pilots the orange Space configuration Aestavalis.
Hikaru joined the Nadesico's' crew in episode 4 (charmed by aqua space),
landing top of Akito while he was watching one of Jiro Yamada's anime
videos. It was never said how she survived the destruction of her colony. It
is thought that Hikaru entered the Nadesico through a large hull breach
caused during the destruction of the colony. Hikaru was originally thought
to be a Jovian intruder and the ship was put onto maximum alert.
Hikaru has a passion for wacky gadgets, including glasses with popup eyes.
Hikaru always pretends to be cheerful when being attacked by the Jovians and
never lets the war dampen her spirits. It is known that She moved in with
her boyfriend before the war begun but nothing more is known about him, it
is presumed that he was not one of the civilians killed in the Jovian attack
on her colony.
